APPOINTMENT OF THE SECRETARY-GENERAL

THE ASSEMBLY,

 

TAKING NOTE that the Council at its eighty-sixth session (18-22 June 2001) expressed once more its appreciation for the services of the Secretary-General to the Organization and decided to recommend the approval of the extension of the appointment of Mr. William Andrew O'Neil as Secretary-General of the Organization,

 

APPROVES, in accordance with Article 22 of the IMO Convention, the renewal of Mr. William Andrew O'Neil's appointment as Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization for a final term of two years, for the period 1 January 2002 to 31 December 2003.
